Indications of Corruption or Ethical Dysfunction

Earmarking Summary

State: Illinois

Jan Schakowsky Corruption Investigation Results and/or Ethical Deficiencies Found:

Paybacks, Abuse of power: BigGovernment reports that Schakowsky used her office to apply pressure on State Officials to bail out $3000 campaign contributor ShoreBank while letting a bank in her own district fail. Initially, FlipCongress2010 believed true motive was related to the (Ref: Central Illinois 9/12 Project), a ShoreBank mission involving loans to the poor, international assistance with Muslim Sharia law lending, and "green" energy reduction loans (typical liberal agenda items). However, FreeRepublic has recently uncovered documents indicating that Shorebank assisted Schakowsky's husband in his check kiting schemes, buying the criminal time and resulting in a lighter than deserved prison sentence. FlipCongress2010 misinterpreted initially and now agrees that situation fits definition of paybacks.
