Ken Calvert Indications of Corruption or Ethics Problems:
Use of seat for personal gain: Ken Calvert is arguably one of the most deserving recipients of Crew's most Corrupt designation. The majority of his transgressions involve earmarking for profit. In 2005 Calvert earmarked $9.5 Million for road improvements and development near a land parcel he had just purchased. Immediately after his earmark cleared, he sold the property at a 79% $435,000 profit. In another instance, Calvert profited indirectly by earmarking then having his firm collect Real Estate commision on another purchase-earmark-flip sale which reaped a 49% $475,000 profit for the investors immediately after the earmark. Long list of this type of corruption on CREW site, as well as information in the FBI investigation into Calvert's activities.
