Resurgence of Racism in America

A Return of Racism in America?

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal…

The Declaration of Independence was quite clear. Why has our country had such a difficult time with such a simple concept?

We read these words and are baffled at how our founding fathers could possibly have written those words and justified slavery in their hearts, to fellow Americans, or to God.

The fact that it took almost 100 years to pass laws and almost another 100 to remedy this bizarre mental and moral disconnect is equally amazing.

Even today, the embers of racism continue to be stoked by three groups unwilling to admit or incapable of recognizing that the prejudices of old are no longer relevant.

  • Media. In transparent attempts to establish a legacy, many in media endeavor to spin stories fabricating racial inequities that no longer exist. Sadly, these unfortunate individuals do not even realize that the trail has already been blazed.

  • Preachers (A small but vocal percentage). As the people of this nation finally embraced equality, what was once a brave resource group for education on equality and Christian values morphed into a selfish, petty group focused on spreading antipathy. The equality mission (that had provided - as a side benefit - power, respect and extensive donation money) became obsolete, resulting in a shift by a self-serving few to attempt to remain relevant through the manufacture of issues.

  • Congress. Racism in America by Congressional legislation involves payouts based upon skin color or ethnicity to “correct” inequities. This is a popular vote buying method among many Congressional Representatives and Senators. Unfortunately, such unearned handouts tend to depress recipient's self-esteem, sense of personal responsibility and drive-to-excel.

Is there anything we can do to stop this?

The work of first two groups with the "power of the microphone" attempts to create animosity by diminishing Americans as individuals and instead pitting Americans by race-based groups against each other. While disturbing, this form of racial riling will dissipate as profitability diminishes and as the perpetuating generation retires from public view.

The third group, Congress, is the dangerous group. As members continue doling out public dollars based upon skin color and ethnicity, they may ignite animosity toward the continuously favored few. This group can only be stopped by flipping them out of Congress because they do not typically retire willingly regardless of age.
